Try a camera with a macro setting (setting turned on :) ). Don't zoom the lens at all, and make sure you aren't closer than the minimum distance with the lens (to the subject). You may have to experiment to get the focus correct. It is sometimes hard for a camera to focus on subject matter where there isn't heavy contrast.
 
Sorry dont have a macro lens, that was with the macro ON. It was about 2cm long but very skinny. It also moved very linear, and not like how pods have their tail curved.

You are going to have to get the creature in focus regardless of whether it is close up or not. That is just too blurry. Try taking several shots and see if any of them focus on it. It looks kind of transparent, so that can make it harder. Maybe if you get a colored background, or put something next to it like a dime it will pick up better.
