ID of stuff on snail please

So I bought a couple trochus snails and one has some dark black/red junk on its shell, just wondering what it is. It's kind of stiff under light pressure. Here are a couple pictures, thanks in advance.

I'm not real good with macro-algae, but it could be a red wiry turf algae?

So my best option is to pull the snail and get rid of it or take a dental pick to it. Should make for a fun Friday night, lol. Thanks for the input guys.
