Not sure what is wrong with him... If anyone can ID then we can begin to treat.

He's the male of a mated pair
Has been in tank for 3 months
No other tankmates bother him
He's eating like a pig
He's swimming and cozies up to a torch or alveopora
He looks the worst today but has had these problems for a month or better
He doesn't really seem to be bothered much but he looks awful

His tail is Chewed Up
Looks like bruising (could be stings from torch or alveopora)
White lesion just above his eye
Possibly a white sheen all over? Hard to tell because he's fast!

Any ideas what we are dealing with here? Again, he's eating well and acting normal.

How long have the symptoms been there? When was the last fish added to the tank and what was it? Do you quarantine? The white spot about the eye may be lymphocystis. It is a viral infection and an indicator of overall poor health. The white sheen could be from excess mucus production due to a brooklynella infection. The ragged fins can be a part of that parasite infection. The large chunk missing from the tail looks like a wound. Watch the clowns closely to see if one is being aggressive to the other. Watch when they get ready to settle in for the night to. All of it could be caused by fighting. It is also possible that one clown is more sensitive to hosting in a coral than the other one is. You might have to remove the clown or the coral. What are you feeding the fish and how often?

Thanks Terry... to answer your questions and add a little more info:

How long have the symptoms been there? At least a month

When was the last fish added to the tank and what was it? Bangaii Cardinal - interesting - about a month ago (Only other fish is the female clown, orchid dotyback and blue reef chromis).

Do you quarantine? No :9

The female clown was very aggressive with him at first but they have since settled down for the last 2.5 months.

What are you feeding the fish and how often? Frozen mysis and cyclopeeze daily (although the clown doesn't touch cyclopeeze). He does love flakes but we haven't fed flakes for about a month or so.

One other interesting thing is the female clown also has a chunk out of her tail - but it is like a perfect razor cut type chunk - where his looks ragged...

She looks pretty good other than that -- good color, no sting marks - maybe an ever so slight white sheen to her but nothing as prounounced as him. Sting marks on the male have been there for a couple months at least....
