Hello RC.

If anyone could help me ID this and if you know anything specific about its care beyond reef chili and some cyclopseeze.

Thanks RC!

I would say it is a menella sp. Gorgonian. It is a relatively easy non photosynthetic gorgonian. I would check out the sticky about corals to stock because aquabacs does a nice write up of menella gorgonians as well as other write ups on various nps corals by many others. I would continue to feed it as many types of food as possible at least 10 times day. All nps corals will benefit from a continuous feeding setup. To keep it in good shape gorgonians really should stay open almost all day allowing them to feed all day. I find that my nps gorgonians start to close up about 2-3 hours after a feeding. I feed mine a dry powdered mix of Fauna Marin Ultra Sea Fan, Ultra Clam, and Ultra Min F with auto fish feeders. I also manually feed cyclopeeze a couple time throughout the day.

Good Luck and let us know if you have any more questions.

Pay attn to your water quality/levels, as they will decline rapidly under the correct feeding regiment for this NPS gorgonian. Please consider PO4/NO3 will increase dramatically, youre likely going to need to double/triple water change frequency. Minimum 15-25% 2x a wk, depending on your system/feeding J.A.T
