i need help iding a mantis, i dont have any pics wich is the bad part, the little guy is 1.5 inches, he looks like he could be a g. chiragra or a N. wennerae. what are some way to tell the two apart? the meral spots dont help at all since both have white ones. He is an evergreen color.

G. chiragra are rarely green. More typically they are a mottled olive or very dark olive green. Also, the red or pink on the uropods is diagnostic.

N. wennerae have two pronounced medial teeth on the telson. In G. chiragra, the submedian teeth are more developed.

thanks dr. roy, he isnt a g. chiragra for sure, doesnt have the pink uropods, his are a yellowish orange wiht green. i guess im gonna have to wait for the little bugger to come out more to examine him close up.

also are male stomatopods more active than females?
