Sorry, I can't get any photos of it right now since the camera is in Enid, but I have something on my gorgonian. Where the branches V, there is something living in the middle of it. The gorgonian died when a rock fell and blocked it's light, but this thing in the middle is still alive. It's somewhat like a slug, but upright like a sea squirt/tunicate. It's grayish and pretty ugly. When you shut the cabinet doors, it retracts from the tap. It has never moved from that place before, so I ruled out sea slug or nudi. It doesn't appear to have a point of cephalization. I can't tell if it's one creature or a colony of maybe 2 or 3. It seems to be just one. Can a tunicate retract to siphon? I can't find anything that looks like it. I guess a sea squirt would be the closest. Any ideas?

Well, after posting I decided to go move the gorg it was on closer to the glass so I could get a good look of it. When it's open and happy, it does resemble a tunicate more. Even though it's ugly, it's okay to keep it in my tank, right? Does anyone know anything about these?

Most likely it's a type of tunicate. It's a filter feeder that rarely does well in captivity. Phytoplankton additions will definitely help out.

Well, this tunicate does well in captivity, lol. I've never tried to keep it alive! In fact, it scared the poo out of me the first time I saw it move when I almost touched it. So it could have died and I would have felt safer :)
