ID polyps

I know the picture is not the best. I got a free frag and around the base of it there a lot of small brown polyps, they don't look like aiptasia to me.

That's aiptasia. Did a fish store give you that frag for free? I would not go back if that's the case.

I would also gently remove that frag and dispose of it. Fighting a battle with aiptasia is not worth any frag let alone a free one.

Can I take the zoa/paly polyps off of the frag and throw the rest?

Looks like hydroids to me but we need a second picture. Is the base tube rigid or soft? You can remove the frag. If it is a rock glued to the plug just tap it with a screw driver. If not remove them with a razor blade.

The are soft tubes on them. After looking at some better pictures I think they are hydroids. Would it be a safe bet to shave/pull them off? Or otherwise I'm going to remove the zoa or paly heads off the frag (yes I'm aware of possible toxins).
