ID Sponges?

Can anybody tell me what these are? Not the corals, but the things at their base; tanish thing at the base of the colt (?) coral, and black thing at the base of the tree.

They certainly look like sponges to me. IDing a sponge is very difficult because there are thousands of species. But IMHO 99% of the time they are not an issue. But if they do cause a problem they shouldn't be hard to remove and they are unlikely to grow back. Personally I consider having live sponges in my tank a very good thing.

What Ron said. To a point. I consider them to be a good sign that your tank is doing well. Some have been propagated, however, by putting them into a blender and letting the soup go where it will go. If it becomes too invasive, removing the rock, scraping off as much as possible and then pouring hydrogen peroxide over the area will take care of it.

The black one looks like a "Worm Sponge." (Carteriospongia vermifera) I'm not really sure about the other one though. How does it feel to the touch, hard, soft, kind of abrasive? It might be a coral of some sort as opposed to a sponge.
