Id these cuties please!

Hey all! I was at the LFS today and i purchased these 2 clowns, The LFS had them labeled as black true percula, which i highly doubt, but i got them anyway because they were too cute to pass up, can anyone tell me what kind of clownfish they are? - thanks!!!

Agressive towards each other, other tank mates, and can be very aggressive towards anemones -- they are known to dive into the mouth of Haddonis. Think that "Elegance Coral" has a picture of that.

But, I agree that they are great looking clown.

Yikes! they sound pretty fierce, Im having second thoughts about placing them in my display now, I have 2 mated pairs in my display, and with my luck these two will totally be crashing the party :(
 
I agree with not adding a third pair....

Mean disposition was not consistant with my experience with them. They were some of the least aggressive clowns I've kept. I even kept them with other clown species that were smaller without issue.
 
I bought them because they were paired and Im working on breeding clownfish, but after I read up on how difficult these guys are to breed I figured I could put them in the main system instead, but if they are going badger the tank inhabitants I will have to look for that receipt and return them (Which I hate doing) but Im not going to risk it.
 
Where did you read they were difficult to breed Lola?

Killing their mates does not usually help with reproduction :rolleyes: This is the only clownfish sp. where I witnessed a male kill his mate.

Your pair is still juvinile, two fish were thrown together and for now they tolerate each other. I would not feel bad returning them.
 
Thats awful! i dont think i could bear to watch him do that :( Thanks so much MarinaP you have helped me make this decision a lot easier.

I found them peaceful as well. This was with 2 adult fish. They shared a 5' tank with a pair of Ocellaris (or maybe they were Clarkiis); it was a long time ago.
 
i had a pair of giant saddles...about 4-5" and they were terrors of the tank, of course this was only a 50 gal. if it helps they will lose that cute little orange nose in time.
 
Yeah, the one problem that I did have with them was that when they were moved from a 125 and placed in a smaller system (65RR) they developed severe light shock. Any abrupt change in lighting and they would flip out. They were very succeptable to pop-eye... probably mostly due to the injuries sustained when the light timers turned on/off.
I thought this would change when I moved them to a 210 gallon but it did not and I eventually lost them both to jumping. I probably had them for about five years and was very attached to them. :(
