These things kind of came out of nowhere in an established tank we got from someone else. The plug was just laying at the bottom with some stuff crusted on it but no visible life. I was going to throw it out but before I got around to that these guys sprouted. Are they zoas of some kind?

Look like they have been in the dark for a while they should color up soon and maybe be identifiable. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Hmm thanks for the input. They have been at that location near the bottom of the tank for a couple weeks and they have not changed color. Do they look like they aren't getting enough light? I don't really know how to tell. If I move them up a few inches how will I know if they like it or not? Maybe that is a silly question but corals are new to me!

I'm glad I asked about these things... A quick Google search and I now know about paly toxin. If I do decide to move them I will definitely wear gloves!

What makes them trash? That tank is pretty bare so frankly I wouldn't mind if they multiplied a bit.

I think they're kinda cool too. I have a colony of green ones that have partially grown and interwoven in one of my montipora plates. adds a nice, unusual effect.

I'm not a high end coral snob, but I do like color. If those sprouted up in my tank, I'd remove them before they start spreading.
