right side up, i have it sits on the bag that it came in with, so that if it decide to attach, i can easily remove it from the bag, trying to remove the foot from the bucket may do damage to the foot. the white pipe has the heater inside, set at 78degree, to keep the bucket water warm and cozy. you dont want this thing to accidently touch the heater, bad things will happen.
