Far From Average
OK woke up to find this guy hanging around in my DT i have never seen it before and i have not noticed anything going missing, it is huge fully unrolled it measures about 14 inches long and about 2.5 or 3 wide what i first thought were tube like appendages i have discovered i think are just the ends rolling up and looking like appendages. i think if it was all unrolled it would be flat without any apparent openings??? so here are some pics

That is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. It just showed up? The pictures look like tunicates to me, but they don't just "show up". They don't move. o.o

Some sort of colonial animal, looks similar to a pyrosome ( including salps ).
Pyrosomes are cylindrical shaped colonies made up of hundreds or even thousands of individuals which are called zooids. Check this thing out at night as I am curious to see if it is bioluminescent. It does have a branchial basket from the looks of it so if you wan't to keep this harmless creature then feed it phytoplankton.
Cool creature

Thanks Marinecritters I am thinking it has got to be something from that family, unfortunately I believe it finally showed itself because it was dying I do still have it in qt but it is losing its "roll up" ability more and more.

It Is a VERY COOL creature I sure wish I had seen it more, now I regret not setting up the HD video surveillance system I bought to record nighttime activity. maybe that will be this weekends project.

That is odd. It's not a colonial animal. The closest thing I can think of is the detached, fully extended proboscis of an echiuroid spoon worm but at that size you should have seen it before.
