Idaho grape vs Ora blue millepora.. Who wins?

I have an Idaho grape monitpora that is quickly encrusting/approaching my Ora blue milli. Anyone have this battle or a guess who will win?

I'm wondering if I should start kalking the Idaho grape before it gets to close.

A silicone border usually works, they don't encrust on silicone. A two part silicone has no problem setting under water and most of them are FDA approved.

The Idaho Grape is a nuisance and becomes a problem in tanks, like GSP. Personally, I killed all of mine a couple years ago and don't regret it a bit. If you can keep the Monti isolated from the reef structure great, but Idaho Grape will completely encrust around SPS........nuisance coral, IMO.

+1 The monti will grow around and possibly over grow the milli. I just helped a local break down a 300 that had become over run by montis in only 4 years. They were on all the live rock, sand, and glass. He had several plating and encrusting ones.

Idaho potato, err, grape (rarely was it purple in my tank) was THE most invasive SPS I've ever kept. Multiple kalk'ings required to rid my tank of it.

I had a milli tip over and burn the dickens out of an acan lord a few weeks ago. I thought it would be the other way around.

I have a friend that has a millie encrusting onto a monti cap....a clear winner

My Idaho grape has won out on all sides. It beat a blue milli, Ora green birdsnest and a Carolina acro. I just break it as it gets close.

Well I broke off what I could of the Idaho grape and kalked what I could. It was also within an inch or so of an Ora green birds nest so based on the responses it's what had to be done. I'll try to frag it before it reaches the rock in the future.

I started to use aqua stick to cover the encrusting monti in my want. I have a half moon bay monti that was try to creep on a 20K lokanai and a Palmers Mille, advantage 20K and Palmers.

I'm not sure what it is classified as, but IME it encrusts and plates (like a cap).
