Idea for meeting or event

I've got a good sized back yard w/ grill, lotsa off street parking and all. sounds like a club Bar-b-que, beer festival, swap meet.....

I LIKE IT:D   :wildone:

I have a really big back yard, but live Ballston spa I dont know how thats for location????
have a nice gas grill tooo and a chef so could make the eats......

think the idea for a garage swap is a realllllyyy good idea beacuse some ones unloading some old stuff which some one else might need, never now, maybe a small old part or something....

peace for now,

mike

I am more than willing to do what I can to help. Maybe we should set up a committe to organize this if we plan to do it as more than just something extra at a meeting. If we plan to do it as a meeting I'll hold it in may if there aren't any objections. No big tank to look at here right now though, just my little 10 gal and could share future plans and layout for my next tank. I am now on the outskirts of things so if someone more central wants to hold it that would work just as well. Any thoughts?

I think the committee idea is good....need the council to get it rolling though.....as far as location.....if we want to involve the LFS's...I think we should be closer to them.... and to a larger base of possible shoppers..albany,schenectady...etc...I also think we need to start this soon so that LFs's can be contacted...fliers posted..some type of advertising done...it will take time to arrange...and we need to get the news to the public if we want to have the event a sizable one....just my .02

I personally do not think it needs to be that complicated. Several people offered to host it up, myself included.

Agreed it dosent need to be that complicated, however...based on the last event in order for it be be organized we do need someone to lead the charge. Its not that easy to organize 50+ members IMO

Here's a comittee plan

1 person to handle venue (host the fun)
+ 1 other person to show up early to help with any required setup (though again, this does not need to be fancy)

(space on lawn first come first served).
If someone wants a table, they should bring it themselves.

1 person to pick up beverages and ice
2 people to handle other foods (depending on what we want) including plates, cups, utensils (I have a BJs card so can get stuff there)
1 person to organize cleanup

The comittee takes care of any other needed items- name tags raffle, etc. if we want them. Either Joe or Dan makes up a flier for us that we can download as a pdf from the cdmas website. Members print up and hang up locally (to places that Dave suggested) and stores (who are welcome to come and sell stuff as well if they want to take the time on a weekend day).

A descision should be made on how to handle non-club members (not that we exclude anyone- but what if someone were just to show up?). Maybe put a number or e-mail contact for more information on the flier.

:beachbum:

The hard work is hereby done! Now we just need people to step up to the plate and volunteer. Date should be determined by HOST of the event.

Someone needs to come up with a firm date & place.. Until then its pretty fictional. I'm sure there are quite a few members that would throw in a helping hand. Jill & I included.

So until the comitte says Yayy or Naaa
It will remain up in the air.

I'm defin all for it...

Host Volunteers so far:

Joe- greenbush area
Chris- Glenville
Monti-Mike- Ballston Spa
michaelg- Albany (though parking a lot of cars will become a problem)

I'm up for being the host! whenever we want to do this, I have the room outside, tunes, and plenty of room for parking.

as soon as we have a firm date and time we can post this event on the local TV stations community calendars...at least 2 of the local stations have them...it would be great if we could get some exposure for reefkeeping along with that...maybe on the Time Warner news channel?...just a thought....

My cousin works for Time Warner in the Washington Ave office, I see if he can get info. I'd be willing to help setup and cleanup, prob more depending on when this held.

Chris, I think you are da man to be the host!

YOU pick a date. Just keep in mind when the next meeting is and not to do it that weekend.

i could ask LFS like union if we could post a flyer on a board about this. we would have to pass out flyers and posts like normal garage sales in order to make this worth while. im certainly interested as i have a few old sumps baffled and all....old power heads...canister filters..etc. all usable.

I can bring the Keginator! LOL Yeah/yeah i know not the place for it..

We're down for whatever. Can help with the food and setup.

Can organize members to bring food dishes. Salads-Mac, potato-Toss-fruit etc Crackers/ pepperoni n' cheese. Whatever else is needed. Ketchup/mustard & relish. I know Michaelg talked about BJ's run for meat prolly and what not?

If your considering making it that big? Flyers and TV i would be affraid to hold it at a members house.. Am I the only one with this concern? Bunch of strangers at your house? Unsure of how many people are really going to turn out.

Being that this event will be drawing in non-members

In this case, seems like a firehouse or something would be best?
Or the park idea if no power required for the event? No frag tanks etc? Just my opinion
