Ideal par/intensity for garf bonsai?

I just can't get the deep purple back....tips are purple but rest is tan/brown. Currently it's getting about 320 par, all ati t5. I run a traditional simple setup - skimmer, 2 part, no gfo or carbon, alk at 8, ca at 400, weekly water changes.

Thanks!

I think 320 is about right, it can be stubborn at times. I do not have a true garf, I don't think, but mine was nearly killed, came back strong, but after a year is just now starting to get the good purple back.

This is right at 300 PAR, mix T5 and LED.

Thanks for sharing! That is looking very nice and looks close to being fully saturated in purple soon. Perhaps I will leave mine where it is and give it some more time. It has been a very frustrating coral for me because I know how it looked when I got it, but haven't been able to maintain the purple throughout the body, just the growth tips.

That's how mine is. Growing areas are purple with a faded purple tan base. I have a BC secale about 8 inches lower in my tank and it's bright purple.

I had a quick question if you don't mind, mine is located near a mp40 and it's color has been receding at the base for about a year, any thoughts?

I am a total newb when it comes to SPS so take is a grain of salt, but i got a garf and it was full of GHA. So I broke it up into 3 pieces.

1. back wall of tank. mostly lit by t5 - no base color but ok green extension.
2. 10 inches away from a black box led - good growth and good base color but no extension.
3. in the back about 16 inches under black box led and t5 with mp10 blowing across it. By far the best looking of the 3. In the first 3 weeks covered the frag plug and now coloring up close to the pic above.
