Ideas for Setting up a Sump without Skimmer (Skimmer hangs on tank)

Hi all, I recently bought a 110g drilled reef ready tank
It came with a pretty cool Aquatic Life HID T5 LED ballast, a hang-on-back eshopps psk-100h skimmer, a wavemaker, uv sterilizer, live rock, sand, sump, etc.
I'm told the sump is an eshopps sump as well, but it's missing the seperators (basically just a one chamber sump now)

Anyways, my question is: How should I set up this sump? I've tried searching this forum for advice but it seems all of the sump designs are with an in-sump-skimmer in mind. The previous owner said he had his return pump in a tupperware (to keep out sand, chaeto, etc), and basically just had a DSB and a bunch of live rock rubble in the rest of the bottom of the sump. The return from the tank went into a filter sock.

I'll enclose pics of the main tank, then the left and right side of the sump
Any advice from someone who has a hang on the back skimmer and a sump with a refugium and how they set it up would be appreciated

Regards

Does the app crash? I can only upload pics that are taken first with just my phone, then uploaded later with the app. Any other time, it crashes, or doesn't apply the pix. Tapatalk has a big issue with this.

As far as the skimmer/sump ordeal... why are you using a hob skimmer vs in tank skimmer?

You can probably find a skimmer on craigslist, or offerup for 30% market value, thus allowing you to get one helluva skimmer for under $100

Honestly, after looking up the skimmer you have, I would throw it on ebay, or cl for $50 then buy a bigger in-sump one.

You may spend $120, but if you sell the one you have now, and deduct that out of the $120, that's only $70 for what would cost around $400 market value.

I've built my entire tank this way so far. As of right now, im. $200 in the hole for a full setup, lights, skimmer, tank, the whole deal. Flipping things isn't hard, just gotta try.

I took the pics with my iphone, emailed them to myself, opened up my email on my PC, saved pics to desktop then uploaded them from there... no crashing, just says they are uploaded and then they didn't show up.
As for the skimmer / sump... I bought a used set up like I said and it came with a HOB...I live in a remote mountainous area in Canada and luxuries like Craigslist and Kijiji aren't viable for me (it's a 2 hour drive to a city so I was just going to make what I had work).
Your advice is much appreciated and I probably will try and line up an in sump skimmer.... What size tank do you have Levi?

when i first added a skimmer and hadn't gotten it adjusted right it overflowed a couple of times...especially one time when i used a "nitrate reducing" filter pad and it went nuts....and it was in a sump at the time but still managed run down the bracket and put a lot of water on the floor....this was on a concrete floor in my shop so it really didnt matter but i'm sure glad it wasn't in my living room...so i'd be very wary of one that hung on the back of my tank (i've since added an overflow tube)

+1 get yourself some dividers for that sump and buy a proper in sump skimmer. I have an in sump eshops and love it. Your skimmer will overflow eventually, better in the sump than the floor...

I have a 55 right now. I've had many many tanks over the years tho, this is just my first saltwater. Budget friendly was and is my biggest hurdle.

Sorry about your picture dilemma, idk what the deal is. All I know is uploading pix has been a nightmare for me as well.

Put in a baffle in the first section of the sump and use your HOB skimmer hanging on the sump. Just make the water high enough for the skimmer to pull from it. I have been using this method since july 2013. Not the most efficient way, but if that's what you got...
