ideas on a sump???

dealing w/ them before on stuff like this, i'd be willing to say it's for all 5, but yeah, gotta factor in the 2-2.5hrs roundtrip drive LOL

I just ordered my glass from the Glass Contractors. I am getting 5 ea of 9"H x 9 15/16"W x 1/4" thick glass. They are charging $7 ea with polished edges.

I'll place them in the standard 10 gallon tank with two baffles (up/down) before the refugium area and three after (down/up/down).

My intake section will be ~5" with 9" for the refugium and a smaller return. Since I am gravity feeding back, my return can be small with no pump or need for a larger body of water for evaporation / top off. With just under 5" in the intake area, I may be able to fit a small skimmer in.

The full 3 baffle bubble trap after the refugium may be over kill since it will be a gravity feed anyhow. I am not sure if I should ditch one or all and increase the intake?

My biggest challenge will be the height since the refugium will be at the top of a closet under a stairs. I have about 17" total height and about 4" from the top of the tank. I could lower the tank by several inches, but that would mean building a new shelf for it to sit on. I am a bit lazy to do that unless absolutely necessary. :)

Check my home page via my user name. The build progress is being documented there. Glass should be ready tomorrow afternoon. Depending on time, I will probably pick it up Wed morning and hopefully have it installed that day. That will let me get it wet and running this weekend.

will do,hey michael do you have the specs for that pump ya had for me,dont know if my pm got through to ya,i just want to know the messurements, its not too big of a deal since its going in the fuge part,i do have to see how i can get my remora in there and that maxijet it has...though before i can work on that i need a spare 10 gallon :D or maybe a 20 thats only 10 inches wide :D

Took me a bit to find it in my garage... The pump has a foot print of about 4" x 4". I'd plan for needing ~ 5" for the width and 6-7" for the length to leave a few inches in front of the intake.

cool, cant wait til i can set a sump up,as far as my retro t5 lights im not sure ill have em up and running by the time the swap comes around

hey guys heres a question,i just figured out,is 2745 gph in my 55 good enough? :D its roughly what im turning which is bout 49 times :D

You probably already know this... you do not need a ton of flow from your sump... where are you getting that number from? Most flow should be powerheads etc inside. You just need enough flow to support the skimmer / refugium which is not really whole lot.

Also, If I decide not to add my second set of baffles, I may have 2 or 3 extra baffles for your build if you go with the 10 gallon.

oh the number is from all my pumps and stuff lol and thanks for the glass if ya have it left over :D

I'd be happy to make it available to you if I decide not to use it... I just need feedback from our club on whether that is advisable or not. ;)
