Hello,

I bought some rock from a guy about 6 months ago from a guy who said he had gotten the rock from ya'll. It has a very strange nuisance macro algae that is a plague. Many people have contacted me and said that they have found nothing to stop it.....Heres a link with a pic of it...http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=245524
Anyway, I thought it was bryopsis, but its not real feathery..........

Have ya'll seen this before? Do you know what it is by chance and have you been able to get rid of it?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi,

It looks like bryopsis to me, but is kind of hard to tell from the picture. Unfortunately I have had no luck with anything eatting it, only dosing kalk to help eliminate phosphate as well as running a phosphate sponge/remover. You may check your lamps, to see if they are getting old as well.

Jeremy, remember Dr. Shaeffer's blu-tip Staghorn with basal Bryopsis? It's gone after extensive manual extraction of all algae at the base[out of water with scrubber] It's now 3wks. without reappearance!:smokin:
