Got this today store owner thought it was a Mertens Carpet. When i got there the dots on the base didnt look like dots more blotches.

no, an aurora isn't even a carpet anemone..hmm not sure.

S. tapetum, "maxi' variety.

I don't know what a S. Taptums foot looks like. If thats what this anemone is, this will be the first.

Its base is flesh tone with dots on top that turn into blotches when they get farther down.

I did notice a few bi forcated tentanceles.

Early thread below on the larger variant presumed to be S. tapetum. I have had a bunch for quite a few years, amount of red on the foot/column varies, but all have had it to some degree matching the photo's provided, most precisely.

This picture shows the bottom up red splotchy view of one stuck on the glass:

Another picture in that thread shows a picture, but the red markings appear washed out by the flash.

Other then that, you can take my ID as a long time owner of a bunch of them as valid or discard it; I have been wrong before

fwiw: Once it buries the column into a crevice, don't expect to see those spots, they tend to snuggle into rock and lay out flat when presented proper conditions.

Its doesn't matter its up for sale. They misindentified it as a mertens.
