Aloha all, Can anyone tell me what kind of worm pest this is? My awesome green clam was find when I went to bed and later the next day, mostly dead (not all but most) and a few of these guys where coming out of it.
My clam was fine litterally hours prior and when I found him he was still halfway alive, not all the mantal was gone and the three worms that I saw where entering/eating through the foot of the clam. My water parameters are great, I have had this clam for over a year in the tank and he was attached to a rock chunk and not on my sandbed (DSB). I have other clams in the tank as well and they are not affect (yet). The only thing new to the tank is about 40 snails of different varieties, could something come in on a snail? The tank had a total melt down about 3-4 months ago, finnex heater got stuck on and temp hit 92. The only thing to survive where the clams and a few fish. Here are some better pics of the killer, sorry for the bad pic, it was done at work bad idea.
I was thinking fireworm but I'm by far no expert, hell I'm below beginner. Nothing else has been touched in the tank. I have several other clams, but nothing is going wrong with them. No Pyramidellid Snails noticed, inspected all other clams and nothing. Maybe old age, he was using a oxygen tank to get around. I stayed up late last night to see if any more other those things came out and couldn't find any. I really don't think it was pinched mantle either for the mantle never had a problem coming out to full extension.
Mahalo again for the help. Jack
