Hi everyone

I see that this group is for large tank lovers and there are some great examples here where some of the RC members have been fortunate enough to do very impresive builds.

I am building my tank now but I do have a limited budget.

This brings me to the question... If money was no object.... What would you build?

That second picture is in a business. The equipment room for it is almost as big as that viewing room. For the first picture, I'd be willing to move.

+1 on the "manageable" part... I'd go as long as I could fit, and as deep (front to back) as I could do, with about a 25- to 27-inch height.

I'd say probably about 10ft L X 4ft D X 26" T...

We measured my 1 bedroom condo the other night, 45% of living space is occupied with Water ! so I think I am there LOL haha unless Id be willing to give up my bed ... [which I did at one point raising stingrays ]

if money was no object, Id probably build a second rack of tanks above all my current ones !!! I do have a very high ceiling, but no more room on the floor lol

OK actually, if money was no object, Id probably buy the condo beside me and fill it up with water lol

I talked this over with the wife before and she doesnt think I can get a permit for a 40' deep swimming pool. I am a active scuba diver and would love an outside pool filled with reef fish. Somewhere in the 60,000- 80,000 gallon range. If it was 40' deep in some areas, I could fit it in my back yard.

in my current house; i have room for a 30ft x 24"x25" but i would like to keep it manageable size of 10ft x 24"x25". but realistically i just upgraded from 48x24x25 to a 96x24x25.
so i am very very close to my ideal tank size of 10ft x24"x25".

I can fit in my basement a 12ft x 4ft x 26tall.. and since money is no issue it would have 12 mp40s all LedLights and automatic waterchanges... I would also pay an rc member a plane ticket every week to come test it and refill my dosing.

Id love to have a reef that was viewable from my pool. I can just imagine jumping in to take a swim and having a reef by my side.

I think a 3-side viewable, something like 8ft x 4ft x 3ft high. I'd have it connected to a fish room that was itself connected to a detached apartment where my live in "tank-girl" who maintains the thing for me would live.

I would be like Mark Cuban or Jerry Jones and only get my hands wet when I wanted to and leave cleaning out the skimmer, etc. to the tank nanny.

Its 12 feet X 8 X 8. Comes out to 5,745.0 U.S. gallons

My dream tank.. I would convert a large in ground swimming pool into a sun lit reef with lots of fish and sharks to go along with the corals. Its something I have dreamed of since I was a kid. My own living shark reef to swim in.

I wouldn't build my dream tank in my home, I'd build my home in my dream tank.

OT because of slief, has anyone thought of turning an outdoor pool into an aquarium? Would that be hard?

Money no object? Hmmm, perhaps 40x80x15' or so, full sunlit open-loop lagoon? That's only like 1.5 million litres... I'm sure I could shoehorn a few of my favourite fish in there... :hmm3: on the real though, something much deeper than long, at least 3' tall, and preferably in-wall. Think Oregon Reef... but more.

I'd buy a wooden house and 200 metres of beach on Moorea atoll... so I can swim in my own aquarium everyday! ;-)
