If you have an all SPS tank, do you keep monit caps?

I have turned my tank into an all SPS, and I have this huge basketball sized green with purple rim monti cap on one side of my tank. It is taking up alot of real estate and will soon grow too big. Do any of you guys do monti caps or do they simply grow too fast and take up too much room?

I use the real-estate under my cap for LPS corals. My frogspawn doesn't mind living in the shadow. Mine is getting too close to the front glass now. I run the mag float along the glass at the leading edge of the cap to sand it down.

Caps are forgiving enough that you can keep then just a few inches above the sand and they will still grow. As per the other post then when you start to run out of space for your new sps use the middle of the cap as a mounting ground.

I have 3 caps in an sps/zoa only tank all of them are no more than 3 inches above the sand and they are growing quite nicely.

I have them but the do kind of sneak up on you. I whack them to pieces periodically.

im a noob and have some large caps, very easy sps to keep in my book, polyps are ALWAYS out and they always show growth. I had a cap in my tank when it was cycling and it still gre about 1/2" in a months time, i dont recomend doing that but thougt id share.

For placing sps in the middle, i have a cap with a poci growing on it and the bottom of the poci is in a war with the cap, i think the cap is gong to eventually win the battle

I have 3 different cap frags in a 34G, placed overlapping each other so they'll (I hope) grow together: one bright green, one Tyree flower-petal (pink polyps and green or blue base color), and one lilac-purple with violet polyps. They have yet to grow large, so I'll see how much of a PITA they are to deal with in a few months, I guess. They do come in some great colors though, and as a montiporaphile I felt like I really needed a couple to round out my collection. :p
