What would be on your shopping list?

In my case, I'm restarting my tank from scratch. I know (from previous experience) what I won't be adding: monti caps and other fast growing corals like digitata, birdsnest, etc. I find those more common corals are great in the beginning but can really take over your tank fast in years 2-3.

So it's my goal this time around to be more selective about what I'm going to put in. I mostly plan to stock bushy formed acros as well as stags. I LOVE millis and plan on having a few different variants. I also really want a couple tabling acros since I think they will look good in my aquascape.

But don't constrain yourself to my preferences. If YOU got to start over, what would you add (or not)?

As a fighter of aefw.....from scratch I'd set up a frag/grow out tank that my initial group would grow in before they even thought of going to the display....then another group of frags.

Getting them in a mature system can have you close to leaving the hobby right when you think you are the man!

One or two trophy fish and the rest pipes and gobies. +1 on the setosa and some really rare digitata. After that some tables but I think if you get a table kickin' it will spread just as fast as a cap. I'd pass on the efflo and go with a blue rimmed undata.........

I would go with a pearlberry, red planet, setosa, and a $500 efflo. Never ever ever again have a pocillopra!! The 10 inch colony looks great, but the 75 tiny ones all over the tank don't.

Birds nest always seems to die off in my tank. Also, I would definitely have at least one or two monti caps. My huge monti cap is not only beautiful, but all the frags I can take off of it fund my other frags. Other than that I would go with almost entirely acros.

So true. I can't count the number of purple/green/red monti cap frags I sold from my old tank. Any time I needed a couple hundred bucks I'd put up an add and start chopping.

Pearlberry, Red Planet, Purple Monster, 30K Lokani, Green Slimer, Ultimate Blue Stag, Setosa, Oregon Tort, Aussie Echinata, $500 Efflo, Sunset Monti, Superman Monti, Acan Echinatas everywhere (i love them), Red Gonipora, and a few REALLY nice ricordea. A pair of Urchin/Striped Clingfish, a trio of Red Finned Waspfish, a pair Powder Blue Tangs, an Achilles Tang, and to top it off, a candy basslet. Along with all that, a quad pair of Harlequin Shrimp (8 total), a pair of Peterson's Cleaner Shrimp, three venus anemone shrimp, a pair of Yellow-lined Shrimp, eight Pom-Pom Crabs, and a cleanup crew with a HUGE Queen Conch. All packed into 340 Gallons of a 14 inch tall lagoon.

Really, pocillopora will spread like that? I didn't know any SPS would spread around the tank.

Pocillopora are known to do that. They can be a real pain.
