If you were going to stock a 180g

What would you put in it? I'm going to be setting up my 180g in the next year or so and I'm trying to figure out what to stock it with. I want a good variety of color, while keeping fishes that are well-suited for a 6'x2'x2 mixed reef. I have a 55g that will be used as a QT.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Right now I have the following:

QT: yellow tang, hippo tang, naso tang

Display: 2 x snowflake ocellaris, melanarus wrasse, orange back fairy wrasse, yellow patched wrasse, and a mandarin

I plan on adding the following in no particular order:
.emperor angelfish, flame angelfish, 5 anthias, maybe 1/2 more wrasse, a midas blenny and possible a bluethroat trigger

my system is a 180g display, 75g sump, 40g fuge

Thanks for the feedback. How do you feel about the Hippo and Naso as far as tank space? I know LA says 180 min for both of them, but it seems like there are a lot of people on RC that think a 180 is too small for a Hippo. And I thought the same for the Naso.

I was thinking of putting about four tangs in (Trying to decide between: Powder Brown, Desjardini, Purple, Kole Yellow Eye, Blue Hippo/Powder/Regal, Yellow) along with a Regal Angel, Singapore Angel, Foxface, wrasses?

I'll also have a 75g sump with built in fuge.

Depends on what you consider a good variety in color, most will say anthias but I'm not much for them. I would pick fish with personality over just color. I would pick a large angel but your mixed reef may suffer in certain areas, a tang of some sort, reef safe wrasse or two, and my personal favorite a a Quoyi parrotfish. Talk about color and they have a ton of personality, always watching me when observing the tank

I have a 150 FOWLR, my stock list is as follows, maybe you will like one or two of them for your tank
2xpercula clowns
Matted filefish
Red Firefish
Helfrichi firefish
Yellow eye kole tang
Flameback angel
Regal angel
Goldflake(possibly flagfin) angel
2x bandit angel

My tank is 6' and I had a blue hippo but I felt the tank was too small for him. I would not suggest it as this fish really liked to swim

I'd skip the hippo, naso, and desjardini tangs. They all get pretty big for that size tank. From your list the kole, powder brown, yellow, and purple are well suited for a 180, but if you want both yellow/purple add them at the same time and do so with caution. They can both be pretty mean.

+1 on the regal angel, they do well in a reef setting ime, and can't beat the color. Also consider the needs of a regal angel - if you go with one it is probably best to have 2 or 3 tangs rather than 4, since they don't stand up to aggression well.

You should also look into a Halichoeres wrasse, I love mine. Radiant, Richmond's, and Earmuff are some of my favorites.

Yeah, I was thinking the Desjardini might not be the best choice for a 180, but it sounds like there are many on here who keep them in 180's without any problems. I figured I would definitely put the regal angel in before any tangs so that it could stake out its own place in the tank. I would put any tangs into the tank together to decrease aggression. I will have to look into the Halichoeres, Radiant, Richmond's and Earmuff.

Thanks for the input.

Ha, yeah I just saw that. I really like the Radiant and especially the Richmond's.

Any other good suggestions for a 180 reef?
