Ihavetats29 now has Bandages too!

Mako Shark II

Fish are Friends not Food
For those of you "Old Timers" that may know him, or to those of you that have frequented a certain LFS known as Kermit's Reef, I am pleased to tell that our beloved "œIhavetats29" (Jim Flowers) a.k.a. "œB_tthead", is ALIVE(!) and resting comfortably at home after suffering a motorcycle accident on Germantown Parkway, just two-blocks from his home.

Not to add to the gore and horror of the tragedy, but Jim's years of experienced riding bikes likely saved his life. Jim was riding his Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500 (read: NOT a small Bike!), doing about 45 MPH down G'town Parkway, minding his own business.

Apparently, some woman in a Ford Excursion (also nothing Trivial!) failed to see Jim this weekend. She must have been blinded by the 11:30AM sun (I'm being facetious), so she didn't see him. In any event, he's okay, all things considered.

His upper left shoulder is broken. The Doctor says it will be six to seven weeks before the muscle heals. His left knee, ankle, wrist and left arm are all sprained. Fortunately, Jim WAS wearing his Helmet :strooper: which did hit the pavement pretty hard, so he's got some Road Rash, but his "brain bucket" did it's job.

All in All, he's in good spirits and resting the best he can. Drop him and Dar a note if you'd like.

Immediately after the accident, the other panicked Driver came over to him and screamed, "œOMG! Are you okay???!!!!"

Jim simply replied as he crawled out from under his bike, "œDo I f - - - ing LOOK like I'm OKAY???!!!"

LMAO!!!!! That's the Spirit Jimbo! He'll be fine!

Marty

P.S. - I offered to help with Jim's tankS until he gets the use of his Left wing again, but he's so stubborn, he'll likely stick his cast in the water before it comes off!

Thank you very much marty .. for the wonderful words of inspiration :D I am pleased to announce that Jim is doing okie .. although there are a little technical difficulties that he can't seem to do on his own .. like ( tie your own shoes) type thing.. It will take a good process of healing and patience hence patience on my part lol ..
More update to see if he really needs surgery by tommorow's appointment..
To those that do see motorcycles around the corner of your house or just even down germantown parkway or even around the back roads.. pls be careful and aware of your surrounding's with bikers. I've come to realize as a car driver that we have so much power behind that wheel . Yet there are people out there that just dont give a rat's $$$ abt bikers .... I thank God that He gave me another chance to be with Jim for the rest of my life .. <3

i've been a rider for 20yrs and have lost a few friends (and almost myself 2x) so my prayers go out to you as well. Good to see he was experienced enough to minimize his damage. Hope the recovery goes quickly.

wow..Darlene..I can just hear Butthead smarting off to that lady...tell him I am thinking of you all and to hang in there...Miss you guys!!!

:wavehand: Miss you too .... Jim did answer back to the woman from what he told me, cause the woman asked him is he was okie .. while jim was laying down on the ground ,, jim's quote( do I look like I'm @#$% ok to you) DUH!!!!!! LMAO :debi:

I too have lost two friends to bike crashes. I myself was airlifted to the med when I had my wreck. For those of you that know me that is what the big scar on the left of my neck is from. My head went through the windshield before i landed on the roof of the car. Wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the helmet. Same situation, the girl never saw me. Glad you are still here with us Jim and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Lettie Blunden was also in a wreck while riding her scooter. An SUV did not see her and plowed into her. She had several injuries and was in the hospital a few days. Jay had to go to Gavin's graduation without her. Knowing Lettie, she will be up and about in no time.
Denise, tell Jim hi and hope his recovery is in record time. Is the bike a goner??

Glad to hear the good news on Jim! Not glad to hear the list of horror stories. I have been on the fence about selling our two bikes. You know it happens, but it sounds like everyone has a bad story or two..... They are a lot of fun, and you can be the safest biker around, but you cannot control your environment. I think with cell phones, mobile games, ipads, multiple televisions and other major distractions, it is only going to get worse....sounds like it is not a case of "if" you are going to get hit, it is "when" and "how bad"....in Florida we didn't even have a helmet law...glad Jim had his on....

Glad to hear he will be ok.I can just picture the expression on Jims face when the lady asked him are you okay.Miss you guys.

Jim sorry to hear about that and Lettie too!
Ive never been a biker so Im sure theres alot I don't understand about it but I don't even feel safe in my car with most drivers on the roads I cant imagine how exposed it must feel on a bike.
I see some bikers on the interstate at night on my way home doing about 110 in traffic, if I changed lanes I wouldn't have a chance in hell of seeing them coming up behind me.Im sure thats just a small percentage of bike riders though. And I see plenty more cars driving foolishly every day so I guess it is an even balance.

In 1999 I got a wild hair up my A@@ one day and went down to the local honda shop and bought a 99 CBR 900 (not a good first bike). I was to scared to ride it home so I loaded it up in the back of the pick up and off to Collierville I went. My next door neighbor was from England and had a very nice Ducati. He had me riding like an "expert" in two weeks. For those of you who know me, I love me some Budlight. One night after about 2 or 3 maybe 7 or 8 Budlights I went for a ride. Having your back tire grazed at 120 MPH while running a stop sign is a good time to never get on a bike again. Nothing against bikes at all just not good for my addictive personality!!!

If I ever quit reefing I am buying a Harley!!!! I hear they are cheaper!

thanks to everyone for the wishs , its kinda hard to type with one hand , its a slow recovery and pretty painfull, i also hope Lettie is doing ok hate to see other riders injured to to others ingnorance. if people would get off thier flipp'n cell phones and pay attention to the raod in stead of flapping thier chops and looking with thier eyes and not thier mouths these situations could have been avoided.

Jim, let us know when you're ready to move those tanks around, or need a Hand doing maintenance. :wavehand:

We got your back!
