I'm a believer, what else is down the pipeline?

Alright I picked up two Vortechs, put 'em on - and I really like them. I'd seen Philwd's several times so decided to jump in, impressive. I'm just a touch critical on the way the controller situation was handled - both months ago, when I wanted to buy two and just didn't understand all the "future rebate" stuff - and now that I bought two controllers with no specs. But I'm still so happy with the Vortechs, and the controllers are inexpensive enough that it was a no-brainer.

So now I'm just wondering what else is down the road. Any revisions/improvements to the battery backup? Deflectors to aim flow (this would be difficult)?

Just wondering what I should be saving my pennies for. Oh and good job hooking up with AS, they are great guys over there.

Thanks in advance,

David

I hate to say it, but if there's one thing we're really learning from all these experiences it's that we shouldn't open our mouths ever again until the day before something is commercially available.

I wish it was different.

Hmm. Well, it is different. Companies do it all the time. Keeping consumers completely in the dark = bad. Creating a buzz and making CURRENT customers feel like they have to purchase upgrades or they will miss the boat, w/o specific details = bad. Keeping consumers up to date, giving them ample time and information to make a decision before giving them a "limited time only" offer = good.

I think the product is great, and the driver price is relatively fair - so I'll continue to use it. I buy a lot of high end stuff and I'm not really all that happy with the responses. Oh well ...

Sorry if my post seemed a little bit of a downer. We do our best to tell all customers everything that they would ever want to know, sometimes we've been bit in the you know what, and sometimes we've done everything perfectly but people still say we could have done it better.

The whole premise of a wireless drive exchange is something that we did not have to do, but we made the decision months ago in order to benefit our customers.

Our commitment to this market is to deliver products that have never been seen or imagined before. That is what we do best.

Well, like I said I think the price is fair and I'm fairly sure I'll be extremely happy. My questions were really more to figure out if I should buy two more, or stick with the two that I have right now. My tank is 64x32x24 and I gotta admit, two seems to be more than enough. If the new driver offers some unique features that I'm not used to with the 7095, then I might buy two more - not for more flow, but for more effects.

Thanks for a great product!

David

Tim,

In my experience in both the business world and the legal field, there are people who will ALWAYS find something to complain about, even when they have received an excellent product or service. Unfortunately, these people tend to be more vocal than the satisfied customers, as they obviously need to draw attention to themselves and their dissatisfaction.

The worst thing you can do, in my opinion, is alter your business practices to respond to people like this. That is exactly what they want and you won't be able to make them happy anyways, no matter what you do. All you will end up doing is possibly upsetting the silent majority of satisfied customers of your product.

I am one of those who purchased two of your Vortechs and I am extremely happy with them. It is a joy to look at my tank and not see 4-5 ugly powerheads, cables, etc. or my water temperature rise when the powerheads kick in.

I also love the fact that I can come to this board and hear what new developments you have in store for the Vortechs. By the way, for awhile I was trying to decide between the Vortech and the Tunzes, and I can honestly say alot of what I read on this board from you about the future of the Vortech and the new wireless controller convinced me to go with the Vortech.

Keep up the good work.

I have a quick question - one of my VT's is running hotter than the other. The cool one is almost room temp. I probably have it running at ~15%. The other is at ~30% and is very warm to the touch. Not burning hot, but pretty warm. They're making about the same amount of hum. Should I expect them to run warmer at higher GPH? I'm leaving for a few days so I'll assume they are fine (leaving in 2 hours) - just wondering. My tank is 3/4" (19cm) glass and I'm not using the spacer.

Thanks,

David

you guys are doing a great job, just that you should consider taking the programmer's / construction worker approach.

Just give a estimation date way beyond your real expected date. So in most cases, you will actually release the product before schedule, and people can complain all they want about a release date of '08, but still get excited of the cool features to come.

IH-10 in houston is slated to be completed in 2009, and started in 2003.

That's exactly what we did. We never promised a multi controller for the summer release date: We only promised a single controller. We are essentially months ahead of any promises we made about multi controllability.

-Tim

Yeah Tim, you think it's bad with what you guys do, come spend a day in my retail store and listen to all this crap face-to-face. There are certain personalities that really are just there to complain, no matter how much they like our products and store. Most people who come into our store are amazed at our selection and quite surprised at our pricing. But then there is that once-a-day person that walks through the store complaining about everything. It's part of doing business but it can be depressing if you let it get to you. I know it drives me crazy.

why are you running your pumps so slowly?
i run mine in my 50g at 100% i would think in a 210 you would need more flow?

Seriously? If I turn mine all the way up (in a 56G) it creates a sand storm. Granted I'm using fine sand, but still. What type of tank are you running? I was concerned too much flow would stress the fish/coral. I wish the driver had a display that showed percentage/flow so I could gauge things and make better adjustments.

Ditto, if I run both of mine at 100% in my 92 gallon corner, it's Dune city. :)

Although I agree 15% is a bit low. I run mine at around 50%.
