Im about to be a daddy

patiently waiting for them to lay more eggs, its been 3 days since the hatch, how long after a hatch do they normally drop more eggs? i want to make sure they spawn again before i go ahead and order all the equipment.

is a sandstone tile ok to use?

mine lay eggs any where from four days to several weeks after a hatch. They used to lay four days after a hatch - like clockwork but now it varies. I am not sure why. I am not sure about sandstone, I have used 4X4 ceramic tile with no problems. Good luck!

we have a second batch :)

they pushed my small flower pots out of the way and still layed the eggs on the rock that the colt is on (where they host). The rock with the colt is not attached to anything, can i move the whole rock with colt to the fry tank?

this batch is twice as big, but i think i am going to wait for one more batch before i try.

Sound like they are determined to lay them on the rock.

I'm not sure if moving the rock with the colt on it would be the "best" solution. I could see that it would work but the coral probably wouldn't like it that much. You could try removing the eggs with a straw the night of hatching and using an egg tumbler to get them to hatch.

Colt's are pretty rugged, so long as water quality is kept the same, I don't expect it would be any worse for the wear to move it when you expect the hatch.
