That is a beautiful setup. Love how your wall blends with the rock. Really, a very cool tank. I can't believe how much I notice everytime I look at it again.

I love your chromis school - how big is your tank?
It's roughly a 325. Oddly enough, I added 6 chromis to my 110, and they killed each other and the last one just disappeared one day.
In contrast, these are the same 6 chromis I added a year ago with no losses so far. Perhaps they need a bigger tank like tangs? Or they're weird mutant chromis.
I am a big fan of foam backgrounds. I had a tank with just a black one, and hated the look of coralline growing on it. Now, when coralline grows on the foam, it just looks like more rock! Much better.
It's still a very empty tank from a coral perspective. I am hoping to add quite a few frags to it and get it fuller. Once it's full, I guess I'll just have to upgrade...sigh...

I too love the foam backgrounds. Ours has coralline growth and it looks really good. I've noticed that the coralline above the water change line is not nearly as healthy as that below it. It's not like it's dry for very long at all??? We have a 90 and are drifting (quickly) to capacity. I see it doesn't get any better when you have 300+ - it's like $$, you spend the gallons you got. Anyway - incredible tank. Thanks for posting.

wow - I know my husband would be interested in that idea (and me too). I haven't heard of that. But I would love to skip the bathtub ring of bleached out corraline. If you get anything figured out, please post.

If your sump is large enough you will not need to shut the system ( main Pump ) down when you do a water change. I can change 15 gallons on my 125 without shutting the pump off. I have not turned my pump off to do a water change in a year and I have done 15 gallon weekly water changes.
I am sure there are other ways to get around this with remote water change tanks. The idea would be to change a valve from one holding tank to your system to let the new water in while shuting off a valve to your sump or other holding tank to contain water being disposed of.

Wow. So you are suggesting basically diverting the overflow to a drain while you add new water to the tank...What a ridiculously simple idea. I was thinking something involving expensive and brand name computer systems and pumps like this!
