The tek has individual reflectors that's what makes them good. You get better light penetration with the individual reflectors.

the Tek retro comes with 2 reflectors and 1 ballast for running 2 bulbs. so 2 retro's or one 4 X54 fixture would be good for your 55

It's not so much the wattage, the penetration is what's important.
From what I have been told you get as much penetration from the 216 watt T5HO with individual reflectors as you do with 150 watt HQI's
