I'm comming down for the frag swap!

Aquarium Concepts and Atlantis are nearby, aren't they ? and AG over in Milpitas too, right ? I know where those are, but not really where they are in relation to the swap meeting place . I am sure that someone can chime in with some nearby, must stop spots (and there are a few notables ).

A couple of us from MARS in Sacramento will be carpooling in to meet up with you cats to do a bit of swapping and schmoozing. This will be my first swap, so outside of bringing the $$$, the coolers, and of course the frags, any other etiquette we should be aware of?

Twisted, not trying to hijack the thread or anything, we are totally stoked on meeting up with our fellow brethren from up north too.

Yes, all folks who are not members of BAR (me included) must bring a bucket of fried chicken, a tri-tip, and a statrch of their choice.

Lapsan, yeah the dumb cube is up and running. I had Angelo make a new door, and I am running two 48" Maristars over it.

Tom, if I remember right, ASAP is off of Whipple, and Atlantis is too, it's just on the other side of 880. Probably about a 5 minute drive or so. Aquarium Concepts is fairly close too, but you'd head in the other direction on Whipple, hop on Mission Blvd, and then go all the way to Foothill. At least, that's how I think you'd do it, I'm not the best at directions.

Aquatic Gallery is probably 10-15 minutes away, and a bit more out of the way, although you could probably easily swing by Atlantis then head down 880 towards Milpitas.

Is Aquascene still around? They were very close to Aquarium Concepts.

Your not hijacking anything MrMikeB I have actually been trying to come down to sac for a couple months now and check out the stores. Life keeps stopping me from making the drive though. <and of course the cost of this damn hobby!>

Bonnie, Since James left, Aquascene is not the destination that it used to be. I have not been there since his departure, so I don't know if it is still around or not, and if so, what "shapre" the store and livestock are in.

And I thought the new Atlantis store was closer to ASAP. I had visisted it once, a month or so back and while driving there everything seemed "oddly familiar" .

Is Aquarium Concepts for sure moving? I know their new location is going to be in Dublin (3 minutes from my house, yay!), but the signs they have on their store now say, "New Location in Dublin" and you can clearly see that they used to say, "MOVING TO a New Location in Dublin." The "MOVING TO" part is all blanked out, like they haven't decided to close down the Hayward store.

They are moving now. They have moved most of fresh water tanks out. I drop by yesterday. They have discounts on their corals to get rid of stockl

Yup, Atlantis is the same exit as ASAP (unless you use the back way in like I do )

Aquascene is done and gone. That fork was placed some time ago.

Someone told me that this frag swap is huge, and that if it is starting at 1PM, that I should expect it to last untill 5 or 6PM atleast? Is this true?

If that is the case, I suspect I wouldn't have time to check out any other stores due to my 3 or 4 hour drive back home. Yuk!

Oh well, it will still be a worth while trip none the less I am sure.

Tom, I rolled into the Reptile Room a few weeks ago. I just had to see it. There are two racks where "A Reef Aquascene" used to be. It holds a bunch of herpe goodies. The carpet is missing strips where Aquascene's walls used to be and the south wall of Aquascene is still there and painted blue. The halide rack mounts are still on the wall.

Perhaps the most shocking part when looking at the carpet was seeing how small Aquascene really was and how many of us tried to squeezing in there at one time.

Yep, both are off the Whipple exit - Atlantis being right off 880 (it's in a business park, so it was tricky to find), whereas ASAP is closer to Mission Blvd.

Twisted, we should be out of there by 4 I'd suspect. The rental stuff has a tear down time, but I don't know what it is. Maybe a BOD could chime in

The swap will go as long as you want it too. You can leave after a round or two or stick it out until the free for all. I typically hang out until the end, but that's usually due to the fact that I'm shooting the breeze with my friends.

Oh, I will be there untill the end, especially if there is a free for all. I know a few people that won't be able to go to the swap, and I will probablly make sure they get a couple pieces of something.
I figure, if you all don't want it, I know someone that will appreciate it, heck I am filling my little 55 gallon, but plan on setting up a 100 gallon or bigger this summer some time so, will need the stock to fill it.

FYI the free-for-all has in the past not been that great of a free-for-all, trust me I know because I was helping people choose between the kenya tree frags or the bag of brown water marked "Xenia"

ASAP is a Wholesaler, so you won't be able to buy anything from them specifically, the "bring money" bit I think was a reference to the raffle.

I LOVE RAFFLES!!! I rarely win anything, but I love them! It's kinda like vegas but with the chance of going home with something! Well something other then a STD.
