Yeah, electricity bill was killing me before. I downgraded to a 6 gallon nano, just so I can stay in the hobby. A little piece of the reef for me.

$400 per month is actually not that high for a 400 gallon. I thought it would be higher. Those tiered electricity rates are killer.

Have you looked into the On Peak Off Peak meters that are offered to lower your electric bill? Mine has reduced my electric bills quite drastically. I run all my lights at night.

those high electricity bills suck! did you think about installing some photovoltic (pv) panels to supplement your electrical consumption?

my high electricity bills were a pain until the installation of some panels. it adds value to your home and electrical rates are unlikely going to decrease. my $400+ bills are now in the mid $100's.

drop by and take a look if you want to see my solar set up. i am very happy with it as it is cranking out tons of watts now that summer is approaching.

good thing too, since i am about to start turning my ac on!

but, i guess ac is an option when one is at the beach!!!

Ok, so I apologize for not responding for some time. Ive been really busy and haven't been able to get into this. For now Im going to try and get rid of my equipment first. Someone flaked on me for the T5 so thats up for grabs. The 175 halides are pending sale.
