Im getting ready to set up a 200 g and i have many questions

If input a phosban reactor with a small pump in the same chamber as where the skimmer is do they affect or interfere w each other in any way?

You have the pumps routed individually to each over flow?

You do know that the water flows from the tank to the overflow down the pipe to the sump, to the pump back up to the tank.

You keep saying to each overflow, that is throwing me. Its from each overflow.

You can see the 3 phosban reactors on the edge of my sump, they do not interfere with anything.

I'm sorry your right I mean from. Ok so that's a total of 2500 gph plus the power heads. I got it thank. If you can show me some picks ofvyour sump area idvbe interested as I'm about to move to plumbing stage of this project

If I put a phosban reactor w a small pump in the same chamber as the protien skimmer will that affect it in anyway?

I justvpurchased a second mak4 pump I figured it's better off with more flow... Ordering Durso standpipes tomorrow and a phosban reactor

got the skimmer in... heres a picture.. this thing is a monster!!!!! its huuuuuuge!!!!

No - this should be fine, as long as you return the water to the same area as you get the water.

If you are doing plumbing, I might suggest a "manifold" on one of the pumps - do a search above for some images to get an idea - it will allow you to run all your phosban, etc. without the addition of extra pumps.

I'm glad you have some good pumps, but just beware that there is not too much flow through the overflows. Each overflow is rated for X GPH - you dont want to get near that number! I'd really only go for 1000 GPH through both overflows combined.

I have had this tank running for 20 years with 3 pumps. 1 pump to tank, 1 pump to chiller & back to tank, 1 pump to protein skimmer & back to sump.

It is a 200 gallon, same as yours. 2 Mak IVs & Iwaki 40 RLXT.

Pretty sure I am running 1" (2) standpipes.

Caluprea grows by the bucketload, pods, mysis everything growing in sump with all pumps running thru it.

Then I will do it your way 100%. I will run one to one overflow and the other pump to the other. I have no chiller and the skimmer and 2 media reactors have seperate pumps I will just put directly in the sump.

I have to ask you though. I'm being told that my overflows can handle 600 gph each. Now being that the pumps are rated at 1250 gph a piece . Your telling me you had this configuration for a long time so somewhere the numbers have to be off no?

You got me on that one. You can plan for pump placement of 2 pumps & try one first, leaving room to put the second one. I have two 1" standpipes in my overflow & they have no problem keeping up with 1 Mak IV & one Iwaki 40RLXT. Second Mak is on the protein skimmer.

I would have someone check the numbers you have on flow rates.

ok .. so after MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!! i finally am set up w water.... but i have a few problems.... 1st is there are waaay too many bubbles in the tank... bubbles galore.... secondly i was wondering if anyone knows how to adjust this super reef 500 internal skimmer? thanks guys .. thats all for now...

ok so im finally up and running... i even have a few fish in there... i must say that i pretty much followed everyones guiding hand and made my best educated decision (influenced a little by the pocket no question) and im up and running!!!! so far its only been a few wks and i am pushing it by cycling pretty much with just the ecosystem mud and a couple pieces of rock. after about 2 wks of this I couldnt resist and bought a fish a maroon clown. a few days ago i put a powder brown and a sailfin in at the same time.. and yest i put a coraql beauty in there... so far so good. I must say 1nce again that you guys are amazing.. costs may have ballooned quite a bit but the end result is well worth it.. ill post some pics soon
