OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Photos in gallery.

Here is my 72 bow. I've noticed this a few times but figured with me pulling my hands out of the water had it dripping down and the salt would build up. So, earlier tonight, I cleaned it and made sure no water was near it. Now it is showing salt there. There doesn't appear to be any wet water from what I can tell. Does this mean there is a leak? What do I do? I just got the tank from beldt's about 10 days ago!

It appears to have just a bit of red in some of it? It sits on top of the bottom trim.

It does have a canopy and there is a bit of moisture on the inside of it and some salt but it seems kindof far fetched. I'm going to put a peice of paper under it to see if any is falling. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Justin

Is there any source of micro spray just floating in the air from the outflow? That can accumulate salt.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by that? are you saying that if the return nozzles are sitting too close to the top or a bit out of the water, that it would create a mist and drop down the canopy?

I have some color paper hanging there now to catch anything from the canopy. I hope that's it.

If it's not, would the leak jepordize the stability of the tank? I have 2 small kids and don't want them around it if it's dangerous!

A leak can be bad enough to cause a tank failure, but I do not believe your situation is that. Just continue with your investigation. You are definitly on the right track with the paper. Will help determine where the salt is coming from.

Well I had the paper hanging last night and when I woke up the salt was there again on the bottom so it's not coming from the canopy...Does this mean there is a leak. There has to be some kind of water to continually make it salt up above the trim...

Should I call beldts? I'm guessing the AGA have warranties.

Is there any way to positively conclude that it is a leak?

Not sure on this this so see what others think. If you have been messing with it and got water down there, then it will take it a lot longer to evaporate from between the trim and the glass. So as it is still slowly evaporating from in there the salt is creeping out of the crack?

How much water could have been down there? I had been messing around with it on Saturday but not sunday at all. Would it still take this long?

See gallery...

I have had similar experience over the past year with no further problems.

Per one of your first posts... I thought it was just from me cleaning the tank.

Everytime I wipe it clean... it appears again.

Condensation???

In any instance, no major problems since I noticed the salt buildup... just an annoyance.

I also had a similar problem like that with my sump.Took weeks for salt creep to stop.If your not seeing noticeable drop in water level i'd say your ok.
