I'm officially back!!!

Macro will probably cost you at a minimum of around 400 (see tamron and sigma). You would want to get a fixed 2.8 macro somewhere around the 100mm range. As for a camera I am partial to nikons (I have a d300). Maybe look into the d5000 or the d90 (at the top of your range).

Thanks Ian. I actually had a Canon XSI with a Cannon 100mm macro before but returned it. I wasn't patient enough with it as it was my fault the pics turned out crappy.

Mark, is this the scoly you were referring to?

I've been thinking about setting up a small macroalgae tank. One of my favorite things to collect are the various colorful macroalgaes. I may even throw in a couple seahorse as well as I've always wanted to try them. What do you guys think?

Body only. I know that a good macro lens will add another $200-$300 on top of that.

Hey Kevin, Edward is getting there with his tank setup. It should be another 2-3 weeks until it is running. How's your new tank coming along?

Hey Sang. It's up and running. Just needing to get more flow in there (Vortechs would be nice.) I posted a build thread in the MARS RC forum. check it out. I too need a DSLR. Good to hear about Edward. I was wondering how he was coming along. Sick Scoly!

Sang, I possibly have a Nikon D80 for sale if interested. Body only or body/Nikkor 18-200mm. PM me if interested.

-Mike

Hey Mike, thanks for the offer. I'm still researching cameras but will contact you when I decide on one. Thanks.

This rhizo is beautiful! I'm at work now but I had to share the pic with you guys and gals. LOL, it's still in the bag on my desk!

I've been researching the Canon T2i and it looks great. The hd video is also a plus. The only problem is that they are sold out everywhere!

Hey Nick, nothing too exciting yet. I have a trio of hippo tangs, a midas blenny and a sunrise dottyback. I am on the lookout for a pair of rare clowns (either Latz or McCulloch's).
