Im so lost

Ive had my 180 gallon SPS tank running for about 2 years now. All parameters are in good line and everything seeemed to be going well for awhile. For the past month Ive noticed light spots on different locations on the acro's. Not just on the base but also on the branchs. I have not seen any AEFW fall off when I dipped them(Ive never seen one before but I try to look for things like the pics Ive seen). And the same for red bugs. The spots dont look like bites marks because there not white it just looks like a faded color. And then today Ive noticed that my stag and another one of the acros are STN/RTN. So Im not sure whats going on. The bulbs are coming due to be changed in a month but I didnt think it would have that kind of reaction. Any help would be great! And I dont have a good enough camera to take pics. :( Thanks!

The bottom pic looks like what mine does. On the branch its kind of faded like that and it looks wierd.

put your finger in the sump and in the display if you feel a slight shock turn off each piece of equiptment one by one till you find the culpritt. thats if it is electricty. a buddy of mine who has been in the hobby longer than most has a famous saying. "If **** aint right its your water" Dog Boy Dave.

Note seeing any AEFWs during dipping does not mean that they are not there. Use a turkey baster or mj1200. If you're dealing with AEFWs they will certainly come off. They are very resillient and dipping does not always do the trick... Once you know that they're not the culprit, then let's look at other possibilities..

Also, have you done anything to lower the nutrients in your tank over the last month or two?

I always say start with the obvious and work you way from there to find the problem. You would be surprised how many problems one bad Alk test kit can cause you in different situations.

Dont over look the obvious and look at one think at a time so you know you can mark it off the list of potential problems.

Almost all of the time in well established successful setups, problems stem from some sort of a change to the system. This can be equipment changes, live stock changes (Fish, invert ex..), additive changes. Anything that is different. This is usually where you will find the issue.

For example we are talking about AEFW. They would have come from a recent addition to the tank. Look at the newer Coral additions and look to see if they show the same symptomes.

Hope this helps

Okay. Could temp play a roll in this?....It usally doesnt go down any lower than 82 at night and sometimes during the day its up to 88 deg. My mother thinks that she needs to run the heat in the summer and my chiller is shot.
My pars are:
Ca. 450
Mag. 1300
Alk. 9
Sal. 1.026
I rly just done know what to do. I didnt feel any currents in the water. But when I was cleaning my skimmer in another tub it shocked me. Put it back in the tank and nothing.

Also my phos is usally around 0 with a hanna meter and Nitrates are 5. I do run carbon and BRS phosphate remover.

88 sounds very high. Can you put a fan across the top, simple desk fan will do, to keep it down.

probably the heat .i try and keep my water temp at 79.or with a degree both ways.it does not look like aefw because it does not look like bite marks just fading.heat will def RTN SPS.you need a fan either running across the top of DT or your sump.dont bring your temp down t quick or you will shock your corals.i use a ceiling fan run opposite to hit the ceiling and blow into my open top canopy and it keep my tank cool.
