I'm Still Alive...

Greetings everyone. Just thought I'd post a quick thread to say I'm still kickin! Life has changed alot for me the past summer, and so have my priorities. I've been away from RC for various reasons, but above all, sadly I've lost intrest in the hobby.

I think last night was the final straw when I finally got around to doing some very overdue maintenence, and found the pump for my Euroreef is broke. Why it failed isn't important, it was that I finally realized, "I don't enjoy this anymore."

Couple the lack of enjoyment with the added expense on my electric bill, a dehumidifier that runs constantly, and the fear of flooding my basement again, and you get the picture.

So I've finally made the decision, and now I need to try and find homes for my livestock and equipment. I'll be posting a thread soon listing what I have. If anyone knows some one looking for a complete setup (minus a skimmer pump) I would give them an amazing deal since it would make this much easier.

It'll break my heart not to see my reef tank in my wall, but it'll be even more of a releif.

- Alan

PS... Everything else is going good. I had a sucessful summer of motorcycle racing. (Now I'm broke. lol) Here's a pic of me at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, in South Beloit.

Sorry to hear that your getting out of the hobby, I know how you feel sometimes I used to feel the same way with my tanks.

Would like to see the list of goodies that you will be getting rid of though.

Hi Rob. It might be a couple days, but sooner or later I'll compile a list. I'm going to wait till I can include photos, and that means some major tank cleaning first. I don't have anything very spectacular anymore. Just alot of rock over-run with GSPs. lol

Well I will be in need of alot of rock when I move from my 40Gal to my 120Gal even if theres GSP all over them lol;)

I was over joyed to see that you posted, but disappointed by it's content.

You have been and will continue to be missed, but you should persue that which makes you happiest.

Hi Alan! Glad to see you're still alive, but sorry to see you're getting out of the hobby. :( You had a nice setup. The candy cane I got from you has grown a lot since I got it, very healthy.

I can't show my husband this thread with your racing pic in it or he might get some crazy ideas in his head! He's already planning on getting a new bike next spring, wouldn't want him to think about getting into racing too!

Nice pict. Alan.

Sorry your getting out. I feel like that sometimes but am glad I kept my tanks. My 150 has been a cesspool for so long lol but I'm finally trying to improve it. I really have no choice with mine as they had to put the carpet around them lol.

Your tank was really nice. Maybe you'll change your mind cuz winters coming lol.

:(

NO!!!!!

But, we all understand. While we aren't considering taking down what we have, Connie and I also can't move forward with what we have. It isn't a cheap hobby, and when things go wrong it can be devastating. Is still a bummer to see you leave the hobby though. That was one nice tank!!!!
