I'm worried about my Banggai

Hope I'm in the right place here. I have a banggai pair in my reef tank and I am by no means in the breeding business. They have bred twice since I have had them. The first time I actually saw the little critters for a moment and of course they didnt make it because of the chaotic flow. Now, the reason I am worried. The male only ate maybe 3 times after he let the little ones go before he had another mouthful of eggs. I figure they are about halfway through this cycle and he is looking really thin. Should I worry about him not eating or will he just give up when he gets hungry enough?

On another forum im on, Soem guy made a Artfictal urchin out of nylon brush fiber and a half ball. All his little babies hid in it.
If you just leavign them in the tank, Im sure that they will get eaten!

Might want to read my post again. I'm not trying to raise baby fish. I am concerned with the health of the male not eating. But thanks for the reply.

They say if you ctry to catch him he will release, then maybe you can fatten him up

I've raised alot of banggai's and the single biggest problem i've had is the female giveing the male eggs before he has recovered from the previous batch. Like dockery said the best approach is to scare him into spitting them out. It won't be to popular on a breeding forum but to keep him alive it maybe your only option. It'll take awhile before she has eggs again. To bad your not into raising them you can artifically raise the out of his mouth. But its not for everyone. Hope you can give him a break.

I tried the catching idea and it didnt work so hopefully he can make it through this batch and I can get something set to split the two up.

Just leave him alone. He will eat/spit the eggs if he gets too hungry. Then when he does just put him in a separate tank to fatten him up first. Good luck!
