Pot goes in full blown trees now? ;)

Yes, it grows in different colors too!

Wow, Marc! Nice photos!

I'm starting to look forward to your fall trips to the Japanese Gardens every year. :)

I'm kicking myself that I never went to see it back when I lived in the area....

Then I could try pictures of the moon.

BTW, Marc, Moon photos can be made with a fairly fast exposure. The Moon reflects a lot of light. I think the best results I got was somewhere in the neighborhood of 1/125th-1/160th of a second at about f/8.0.

And don't forget that some LCS (Local Camera Stores) rent lenses... you could get one of those great big honkin' super-duper-telephotos for some uber cool Moon shots once you are comfortable with your system

OMG, I can't believe how that cardinal matches that Jap maple EXACTLY! Good pic

I only wish I could have zoomed in more for that shot, but my lens can't go too far (18-70mm).

Dang it Marc - now you made me miss the East Coast! (born and raised in NY). I was doing so good up here with all the mountains and glaciers and stuff :)

Nice shots, amazing colors. I heard the East had a very good color year this year. Is that a wood duck? Didn't think they had them in those parts.

 I wish i could hold my cam that stable! No i was on a tripod for these and the majority of my close ups. I loved the light coming through the leaves and then the blossoms just topped it off- i had never noticed a maple's flowers before going for that shot.

Nicely done Marc, way to go. What Nikon are you shooting?

Very pretty pics.

Thanks. It is a Nikon D70s with the 18-70mm lens, as well as a 90mm Macro lens.

Isn't that how it always is? I've been loving your pictures lately, because I never see that environment. And what I got to see in the gardens here isn't as wide-spread as you might imagine.

Years ago, we were driving on a bus trip from Dallas to New York City. Traveling through Tennessee, the trees and the fall colors were stunning. That trip, we mostly shot video, so I don't have any pictures to share.

I haven't a clue what kind of duck that was, but it was alive if that is what you're asking.

Thanks for clarifying that. I was thinking that I'd really have to step up my game to be able to do that freehand. :eek2:

Last night, I visited a DFWMAS member's home and took 200 pictures of her tank. I ended up shooting almost everything in Manual mode, and I'm getting pretty good at spinning that knob dial under my thumb to adjust the exposure as needed. I'm referring to the scale that usually is the Exposure Compensation meter, but I didn't have to hold down the +/- button to do it.

I need to really get a better grasp of these elemental settings, instead of just playing with what works best for me. That way I not only know what's best for the situation, but can explain why to others in better detail.
