imisky's 30G custom system

Real nice colours, im jealous

Where can I get that mod, who did you get the Tunze mod from. I am thinking of going Fuge on my tank, how has it worked for you, do you use it mainly for filtration or pods and does it work for this?

Jason

love the stand and tank! i think you should paint your fuge lamp a flat black/satin black to blend in with the other equip. it kinda stands out to me for some reason. keep up the good work! i made a stand similar to yours based on the ada stuff.has to be my favorite style clean and simple!

Jason

the Tunze mod was made by me, there is a thread on here talking about it, and that's where i got the idea from.

The fuge i have is used for both filtration and pods. I used to use chaeto as another form of nutrient exporting but after i started using vodka/sugar/vinegar(VSV) i found that the chaeto was giving me some issues so i took that out and replaced it with live rock. and now i have more pods than compared to when i had chaeto and alot less algae. another thing i use the fuge for is to hide my pumps for the Calcium reactor and my chiller, along with the heaters.

The fuge lamp is now something i use keep keep the water from evaporating from the fuge haha, its just a "lid" now but if i ever get around to it, i was going to switch it out for clear acrylic sheet so i can view in from the top.

any more info on your pendants..?? I like the look of them...

The pendents themselves are aquamedic 150W DE MH no modification was done to them and they are working wonderfully with the phoenix bulb.

the light hanging stand is made from aluminum rods clear coated to prevent oxidation and then joint at the top with 2 PVC 90 degree elbows to hold the top piece in.

Nice pictures, what camera and lens are you using?

the camera i took it with was not a DSLR, its a pentax A20 point and shoot, its a great little camera which takes sharp clear images with the right settings:) .

thanks Deacon,

the tank has grown out a lot more since the last time you saw it, contact me again about the tank if you still have my number as i just became free.

i have to admit i was thinking to myself
... who in there right mind uses HOB with a rimless tank?...
but then i scrolled down to see the finished product, i realized that you must have much more foresight then me. it looks great.
and an acrylic top to your fuge would look even better!
very impressive system and beautiful coral.

thanks everyone :D

this system had alot of support from everyone, especially my girlfriend who, had been there to even help me build the stand. A lot of work has been put in and i think its starting to show itself now which is good, its about time!

So a little update to the thread as i havent posted something in a while.

lately i have found my Ca,Mg, and Alk decreasing, even when i up the Co2 in my little acro-cal CR. I figured that the little guy isn't keeping up with the rate of the uptake of these elements, so i took the time to look into bigger calcium reactors. i looked at both DIY and pre-made and i really liked the design of the jetstream Nano calcium reactor so i decided to make one thats similar.

using 2.5" acrylic cylinder and a maxi-jet 1200 and a few trips to rona, home depot this was the result. i havent tested it yet but hopefully it'll work. i'll keep you guys posted.

An add on chamber is in the making process to increase the amount of media this reactor can handle as well as using up all the CO2 that passes through this one.

this one shows the recirc's bleed valve to de-gas the cylinder in the case that bubbles get stuck up there.
