Immediate answer needed on Maracyn-Two?

Hello, I have a question about using Maracyn-Two in a quarantine tank. I read that you are supposed to make a water change each day before adding the next dose. I'm using a ten gallon QT tank and I was wondering how much water to change? Should I change all of the water out each day, or would half of the water be enough? If I don't change all of the water, will the medication start building up with each new dose? I don't want to overdose them!

Thank you very much!

2 tablets per 20 gallons the first day days 2-5 1 tablet per 20 gallons after 5 days a 25% water change and fresh carbon will remove the meds

What do the instructions say?
The instructions are not the same as what is recommended by people on forums. The only problem is they do not say how much water to change before adding the next dose. I do not want to over dose them by not changing the right amount of water.

Here are two threads where they recommend to double the dosage:

I don't think you will hurt them by overdosing a antibiotic. Lots of people recomend to double dose anyways. Now formaline or copper would be a different story...
Are your parameters in check in a 10 gallon? You may need to do more water changes if the qt was uncycled.

The way the instructions read is leave the meds inthe tank for 5 full days "then" do a 25% water change.

If it is the Salt Water version of Maracyn II, than I would follow the package directions. Water change of 25% is sufficient in between doses. However, if it is the the plain (FW) version of Maracnyn II, than you do want to double the dosage as it's half the strenght of the SW version.

i dont get why you would do a 25% wc on every dose, i would think you are pulling the meds out of the water, and in the instructions it only says a 25% wc after treatment is done

You will need to do a water change daily to remove any ammonia and uneaten food. The meds degrade in the saltwater anyway, that is why you replace them every day. So by doing a water change you will not be removing any more of the meds as you are replacing them anyway.

I usually change just enough water to vaccum all the food and waste off the bottom of the tank. It seems to work best using airline tubing, anything larger will just about emtpy a 10 gallon tank before you can clean the whole bottom. Be sure to test your water daily to make sure you don't get any ammonia in the tank.

Are these the exact instructions from the Saltwater version of Maracyn 2? I'm using the freshwater version because that's all anyone had. I realized before I began it was only 10mg per tablet so I doubled the dosage. The problem is if your information is correct (20 gallons) it would mean I should be using 2mg per gallon on the first day, and 1mg per gallon from days 2 through 5. I would appreciate if you could check the instructions again if you have the saltwater version. Thank you.
