Important! Anyone have problems with the Coral Life Digital Timer?

On Rc I've read where the Coral life timer that had the dual timers have started fires. Now I am wondering if the digital one has had any problems as well? I need a light timer that will control up to 4 lights. Please let me know anyone. Thank you.

Having personally examined about 2 dozen of the timers that have burnt up I can safely tell you that nearly all of them were due to salt creep getting into the strip. This is going to have the same effect on ANY power strip. Whichever timer you use mounting it so you can avoid getting salt spray or water into or on the strip is going to prevent a fire more than anything. The digital timers are however more reliable than the analog timers in terms of function. There are two outlets for each of the two control functions. So you can control 4 lights but not individually. They would have to be paired together.

So I couldn't really have the dawn dusk effect with it? I wanted the actinics to go on 1 hour before the halides, halides on, halides off, actinic's on again at least one hour before going off, refugium light on 1 hour before lights go completely out, then the moon lights. So I would need 2 digital timer strips? Hmmm...I don't know the best way to go then.

Yep you would need two strips. One to control the daylights and actinics and one to control the refugium and moonlights. Or you could leave the moonlights on all the time (the power consumption is minimal and you can't see them when the other lights are on) and use a single timer for the refugium light.

would it be best to buy the digital Coralife or just buy seperate timers? I have an American DJ set up that I used to control all my pumps, etc.

I got two of the coral life they are working fine but they are a little big next time I think I will shop at Lowes Good Luck
