Important information for Aqua Illumination user

Hi

Chris from AI recognized that invoking setup commands (setting ambient temp. or flash intensity) in the ProfiLux are causing a permanent transmission of these commands. As a result the lamp starts to flash.

He informed me about this issue and we examined and reworked the ProfiLux firmware regarding this aspect immediately.

Here you are, this is the new version 4.04:

You need only to upgrade if you are going to setup a Aqua Illumination lamp with the ProfiLux.
For all other users is no need to upgrade to 4.04!

Thank you Matthias for your prompt attention to this.

This update is important, as if the ambient set command is sent repeatedly it can cause the fixture to be baseline set at the incorrect temperature which could cause damage to the fixture.

After this update, please set the ambient temperature using the command provided under the 'Special Lamps' menu before the lights turn up in the morning. (Ideal time as they've had all night to settle back to room temperature).

For those that had a 'strobing' issue, this should solve the problem.

Thanks again to Matthias and GHL for their outstanding attention to detail.

Best regards,
-Chris Clough

I looked for this information but I couldn't find it.

Could you point out exactly what Profilux hardware is required to support an AquaIllumination fixture.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm running 4.5 Firmware and control and until now i have had clouds etc turned off. Now that i have them I've noticed that the AI light flickers when the unit does any dimming up or down rather than being a smooth transition. It doesn't flicker when it settles on a set level. Is this normal or is something wrong?

Hello -

Try disabling, then enabling the lights under the Special Lights menu. We've seen this happen after a firmware update for some users.

BR,
-Chris

Hi Chris, I tried that and you can still see it. It's just a little flick each time it goes up or down by 1 or more etc. Kind of like a strobe effect i guess.

Try cycling the power on the ProfiLux; that can work as well.

Hi Chris,

Tried that a few times and that still doesn't help.

we tried this here with 3 AI lamps and a ProfiLux Controller with firmware 4.04

result: smooth dimming without any flickers

I think it is not a ProfiLux problem or a general ProfiLux - AI compatibility issue.

Maybe it is better and more efficient to contact Chris from AI directly? Since this is not a dedicated AI forum I am not sure if he is reading our threads frequently.
