That is not a very healthy S. haddoni, or the usually carpet anemone. It is bleached, that is why it is white. If it live, then it will turn brown, which is a sign of health in your anemone.
It live in the sand, require moderate to high light , clean water and low to moderate current. It need feeding, especially as bleached as it is.
Wait a day or two then deed it with small pieces of seafood. Start out with tiny food like Mysis or chopped shrimp or fish. It it eat and not regurgitate, then you can feed it every two days or so until it regain it's color.

Stress , from shipping. lack of light or temp fluctuations. Good luck witht he Nem it will need alot of care.

In addition to what was already said... Its mouth should be tightly closed, an open one is never a good sign.

Also, in that second picture I noticed another white (( bleached )) anemone in the background (( left hand corner )) -- what lights do you have and what are your water parameters.

toddrtrex... that pic was in the lfs tank

my lighting is 220 watts of pc lighting on a 30g tank.. 110 watts of 10k and 110 watts of antic.. as far as my water parameters i honestly dont know.. i have a total water volume of 55 gallons system total after rock/sand displacment.. i do a 29g water change every 2 weeks.. and there is a very small bio load on the tank... i will have to take my water to get it tested as i dont have any test kits

no LFS should have sold this. shameful.

Maybe the LFS got the anemone in this shape from a supplier or another aquarist. It probably stands a better chance to live in another persons tank than in the store's tank anyway. Maybe a warning letting the OP know what they were getting into would have been good, but it is up to the aquarist to research purchases. With a little reading about anemones, someone should figure out that white anemones (especially carpets) are not healthy ones.

PCs are generally not recommended for carpets. That lighting will probably not keep the anemone alive. Carpets generally need t5s or Metal Halides.

I agree it will stuggle in the PC lighting, especially with the shipping stress its had. I've had LT's grow well with PC lighting, if you're wanting to try an anemone in that set up, I'd look at switching it out for one of those. How are your water parameters?

well swithching it out is not an option..i have the coice of learning all i can and doing what i can to keep it alive and get it healthy again or pull it out and throw it in the trash... i choose to try to save it..in this backwards 1/2 (dead) horse town lfs sales are final..meaning the minute the money is put in the cash register the item is yours even if it dies before you get your change...

Just make sure water condition is great, feed it and hope for the best. If your light is on the low side, try to compensate by longer light period-14- 15 hrs.
Best of luck

I don't care how the LFS got this animal, IMO they have a DUTY to sell healthy animals only, and this one is not. ****es me off when the LFS thinks they can dump these off on people, whether the buyer researched or not. Its this kind of abuse that will soon find our hobby regulated to the extreme. Completely irresponsible.

tufacody,
How many animals have you killed in your tank?
Most of the anemone will not last 5 years in average tank anyway. You should go and start a fishstore and then sell responsible and make sure all the animal go to good tank and live out their natural live.
Not very body have your sentiment. If you have that sort of sentiment and with that sort of intensity, your should try work with PETA and pass law to shut down the aquarium hobby.

this is not a thread to debate wether the fish store should of sold the nem or not or wether i should have bought it or not..its done and cant be changed this thread is about what is best for the nem at this point..its about whats best for the nem at this point..again its about whats best for the nem at this point nothing else matters if one or more of you want to argue over the sale/purchase of this nem start your own argument thread and argue yourself to happiness (or unhappiness which every way you want)... please keep comments to the constructive side on helping this nem for the best chance of survival/recovery..thank you

Your best chance at keeping this thing alive is very good water quality, feeding good food every couple days (enriched mysis might be a good start if you can get it's mouth to close around it) and if you can invest in some new lights! I know at this point "it's not an option to exchange it" and stuff but you have to face the consequences, it's like if you bought a shark for your tank which really shouldn't be there, you have to figure out a way of finding it a proper home despite your best intentions at the time.

should i leave the lights off for a day or 2 to help with stress relife, or should i partialy light or fully light...iam realy confused as to which way would help reduce stress..considering they want light to feed on photo but reduced light would seem to me to help reduce stress...opinions please

I'd leave the lights on. This thing is going to need all the light it can get now. Like someone said before. Make sure you try to feed it. vitamin enriched foods would be best. I feed my BTA finely chopped pieces of squid, shrimp, scallop, clam, tuna, and other seafood. The smaller pieces will make it easy for digestion. Hopefully the tentacles of the anemone are still sticky.

Do you know what kind of lighting it was under at the LFS and how long it was there?

I've never owned a carpet anemone, but I don't remember hearing of anyone that has kept one under PC lighting long term. Is upgrading your lighting to t5 or metal halide an option?

Since carpets are sand dwellers, maybe you could build something to hold sand and put it on your rocks. If you could find a bowl shaped rock, maybe put a couple inches of sand in it and put it near the surface of the water. I'm not sure if this would work or not, but it may be worth a shot.

*AHEM* Let's not resort to name calling.

IMHO, I'd take it back.
