In need of lighting

The ballast on my odyssea 211 watt MH light crapped out yesterday..

It keeps blowing the 7 amp fuse. I had the electrician at my wifes work take a look at it and he said it's gonner.

So I'm looking at a fairly inexpesive replacement.

I have a FOWLR tank.

let me know what you have, how much, and where.

Thanks!

I'm really not that "in to" aquarium lighting so I have no idea what that would involve.

just from looking up some info on the unit, it looks like it's a M137 ballast..

I guess I could try and replace it... I'm fairly decent with electrical stuff.

is there any place local that would carry this? or do I have to order online?

m-137 is a pulse start 175w MH ballast....any electrical supply should have or get u one $69 or less....try a google search..fairly simple to replace...where do u live..??

I'm not sure... but that's what he said...

maybe he's just blowing it off.

How would I check?

I inspected all the wires, and the chasis ground was very loose.. I thightened the nut up.. and still blew fuses.

not sure what else I should look at.. I do have a multimeter and a voltage probe.

i ment have the electrician see if he can get the ballast and swap it out for u......

I can do the swap myself... and from what my wife said he didn't look too interested in helping.

I'll probably just order the ballast off the net and swap it out.

I wanted to thank all of you for your suggestions... I was ready to go shell out money for a new light setup, when all I need to do is swap out the $60 ballast.

Thanks Again!
