In search of a Chiller for a 29gallon tank

I have a 29 gallon seahorse tank, and THe temperature is extreamly high up to about 80 degrees. I need it to be arround 69-72 degrees for my seahorses, or they will soon die of a very bad vibrio infection.... I have been putting frozen water bottles into it, and added a fan between the water and the light, but it has not helped all that much.

I need a chiller, but dont wat to pay 400 bucks.... I am a poor highschool student who lives off allowence and lunch money and moms generosity lol. I have looked but can't find ANYTHING in my price range that will do what i need to do? Does anyone have any recomendations?

I recommend you get rid of the seahorses and keep something you can more easily accomodate. That and get a job.

What is your price range? JBJ is introducing some nano sized chillers next month I believe and they are supposed to be around 249-$349 ballpark. Nanotuners.com is taking preorder. You might be able a used one on ebay or the classifieds here, although good luck they go like hot cakes!

Oh and yeah get a job you bum! Lol, j/k!

Ok yea that is better i think my limmit will probly be round 350 and I cant get a job BTW im only 15 and u have 2 be 16 here....

Well youre going to have to get a chiller no matter what. You can try finding one used locally, but I bet that wont be any less than $200.

Why did you get the seahorses if you knew they need low temperatures?

they dontneed low temperatures. They are fine at normal reef temperatures from 70-78 degrees, but my tank is arround 80 now...... I just need it down to 70 for now, because because i am having a virbio outbreak... I found a 1/10HP chiller for 350 and i think ill get it

stupid child labor laws... why did we get rid of that..lol

What?! Its simple so little boys like you did not have to work for pennys a day if even that in a sweat shop, many of which had to sacrifice their schooling efforts and then grew up to be agro wife beating, alcoholic people!

;)

whatnot45,

Have you looked into delivering papers? I know you only had to be like 12 back in the day to deliver the paper.

Also you might just go around asking for a job anyway alot of people will hire you under the table and pay you under the table, not that I advocate this or anything. This has its +/- though as you will get paid without taxes being withheld, but you might be at the mercy of the employer to get paid, IE, they may decide not to pay you, you have no legal recourse because you were paid under the table, so no help from the government on getting your money.

Oh and whatever happened to mowing peoples lawn? I saw this kid passing out these real neat flyers around my neighborhood, he barely looked 13 and it was very professional, had a bulleted list of what he would do for $50 which consisted of mowing the lawn and weedwaking the sides. Basic stuff for $50 though. Most of the lawns in my area are all the same size so no worries.

The kid wanted $50? I'd work him to the bone for $50 bucks - that's nuts! Assuming the lawn is a standard small lot. I may sound cheap but my goal in life is not to help some dumb kid buy an ipod.
