In sump or in display?

I have a 110 gallon tank with two power heads. One in the sump by the skimmer and one in the display. Would it better serve me having both in the display and none in the sump? Also I have 2 heaters but I only have one set up and it is maintaining the temp really well. With going into the winter should I go ahead and add the 2nd?

I would definitely put the other power head in your display tank ,I would also paint the back wall black and add a bunch more live rock .I would also add more sand with different degrees of coarseness .

Agree, sump does not need much flow at all, put in display, and as for heater I prefer 2 that are both about half watts total needed or a little more so if one fails the fluctuation will take longer and give chance to notice it.

Your tank looks like a "tall". I would use that, and go higher with the scape. The more rock ,the better. And a bit deeper sand bed imo , will be another advantage.

Yep, put the second powerhead in the display - on the OPPOSITE side of the first. Get a wave maker so you can alternate flow times between the two.
You don't two heaters. Put one away as a spare in case the one in use craps the bed.

Heaters are probably the number one piece of gear that fails and pretty common for many to double up just for an added safety, especially as it's getting colder.

I just typically if say a 300w is needed, I'd rather use 2x 200w heaters, this way if one fails the change is slow and usually noticeable before it's an issue.

Like everyone said, both powerheads in the display. I like to put one heater in my display and one in the sump. If the pump quits working the tank will maintain temp until I notice. My aquarium is in our game room in the basement and it's always cold. So if the heater fails the tank temp will drop fast.
