In the eye!

Just as a reminder to everyone, don't take our corals for granted while handeling! Yesterday while I was seaperating the good parts of my birdsnest from the zoanthid infested side, without touching any zoa's one decided to do the squirting thing. I got it square in the eye! I swear it was targeting me. Anyway, luckily I had a bottle of saline soluion and an eye wash cup. Even after flushing my eye out it was still irritated. Even today, it feels ok, a little tender but no loss of sight but man does it look like I have pink eye. So the next time I deal with ant zoa's I will be wearing saftey glasses. Be careful everyone! This could have been worse, luckily I believe that the zoa that squirted me (it was a pink & gold) was one that the toxin was not as strong as others. I have been in this hobby what, seven, eight years now and this is my first almost emergency. It can happen to anyone at any time. Happy reefing everyone!

its not just the squirt but some of zoas and palys will release vapors that can major lung problems so wear a ventilator while fragging.

Lmao at Frost! Kinda of how I acted Frosty! No more just goggles, full mask now! Lol
Ernie, didnt you learn your lesson from me? Lmk if your going to the swap, youll have to stop by!

That's a good one Frost! Love it. Sliceing corals isn't a fashion show. Eye is looking better, still red. So far I am glad to see that anyone that this has happened to, has not lost their vision. As far as vapors go, I thought they had to be heated up in order for the toxins to be atomized or form a vapor. But it is better to be safe than in the emergency room.
