In wall aquarium lid question

Just some quick silly questions which im sure im just overthinking. Setup a 220gallon in the wall. Framed in just need to fill in the void thatll be the front access above the tank. Looking to do a one piece lid that opens up (thinking of using gas shocks). My questions are does anyone recommend any shocks thatll support the weight (piece will be 21"x 72"). Finally what material should i use. Not looking to do anything fancy like some ive seen on here which amazed me. My original thought was smooth plywood but was worried about weight (3/4") didnt want to go down to 1/2" as im not too convinced itll stay flat. Any recommendations or pointers.

3/4 ply would work fine. Use a piano hinge at top. Try to find marine grade hardware so you limit the rust. Have both the hinges and gas shocks available. Could also go to the spring that just holds the hood open. Used in boat hatches.
