I use a Calcium Reactor. My ALK and CA are very stable. My PH has been slowly going down. I'm sure it's caused by excessive CO2 saturation from the Calcium Reactor. I've increase surface turbulence, imported fresh air, added an air stone. The PH fluctuates whereby, the PH increases during the day but drops at night, as expected, due to photosynthesis using excess CO2 during the daylight hours.
I am considering adding a DOS peristaltic pump to dose minimal KALK at lights off to increase PH. I wasn't planning on using KALK as my top off. I want to dose for increased PH only. I may have to reduce the Calcium Reactor so that my CA and ALK levels don't increase too much.
I don't know how much KALK to add. I was going to add only a few ML's to see impact to PH, ALK, CA. And adjust accordingly.
Is this logic any good?
I have a 240 gallon tank. SAL: 1.025 ALK: 11.3 CA: 450 MG: 1470. Predominantly SPS. Only 2 fungia's and the rest SPS. Great PE and growth. PH fluctuates between 8.12 and 7.95. Not horrible but, was considering trying the DOSing on KALK using my Apex controller.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
