Independence Tank

I just purchased a new all glass 150 gal. tank. It measures 72"x18"x28". It has 2 corner overflows and will be mounted in-wall between my livingroom and what is to be my new study. I will be posting pics as I go and welcome any and all input. Its due for delivery on the 3rd of July so I named it Independence. I cant wait to get started. I have to dust off the old saws-all my most favorite toy,whoopie!!!!! Let's see after 5 years of semi-retirement if I still have some of my mojo. I'll post pics as soon as I receive it. I will be using the 48" Outer Orbit 2xs 250metal halide with 4 T5s for the main bay lighting and using the lower light sides for my suns and low-light corals

I purchased this RO/DI unit from Drfostersmith and have not hooked it up yet. Does anybody have any advice on it, it's a Coral life? I was on another site and was advised to go with a Spectrapure filter instead. I can get a factory refurbished unit for little more than I paid for the one I have, should I send it back and get the Spectrapure?

I got mine years ago from Air Water and Ice. It the reefers Typhoon. Works great and they have great prices. I believe they give additional discounts if you are in a club or mention the forums. Well the honey do list is all but complete and once again its tank time. I have purchased a new 55gal tank at petcos $1 a gallon sale that I want to turn into a sump/refugium. I may not go with a full blown fuge area at first rather I'd like to utilize that area as a setteling area for the time being but may eventully add the macro algae and sand.
Is there a set formula for laying out the glass panes for the best flow? The things I plan on putting in the sump are as follows; double socks, 2 heaters, Reef Octopus in sump skimmer DNW 8" recirculating protein skimmer, and return pump yet to be deceided. Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions

I would do:
First section: (left side or whatever) drain/ filter sock/skimmer area/probes/heater/etc..
Second section: fuge
Third: return

Don't forget a bubble trap to keep microbubbles out of your DT. I built my sump/fuge out of a 75g tank. Got all my glass cut in Stuart from a glass shop that I forget the name of but it wasn't very expensive tho. Make sure you get the glass edges polished, you don't want any sharp edges.

Thanks Mary and Max, great info. I've seen a lot of sponges in the bubble traps I'd like to avoid that if possible and rely more on allowing settling of any dietrus so I could siphon it out as opposed to retaining it in the system.
Max, the one you built is exactly what I had in mind, I like the 4 chamber setup. Would it make any sense to have bubble traps on each side or would it not be worth it?
